South Carolina: Sweetie Petie's family needs your help to find her a new home.

Owner sadly needs to find Sweetie Petie a new family. Please read her story below and help us find her that perfect home.

*From Alicia:  We had 4 dogs (3 were rescues including Petie). Our Alpha Dog, Goliath, passed away because of cancer about a year ago. Before he passed, the pecking order of our "pack" was pretty well in check. Our two females (Petie the jack russell and Darla the bull mastiff) kept their distance from each other but tolerated each other (but were not friends). Since Goliath has passed away, it seems that Darla (bull mastiff) has established herself as the pack leader and our 3rd dog has accepted her without a problem.

Petie, however, refuses to accept that she is not the leader and lashes out at Darla every chance she gets (the last fight they had, Petie lost her two front teeth and had to be stitched up and I don't want them to go through that again). It was not like this before our alpha passed away.

Right now, I cannot have the two females out at the same time so each has to be locked in her respective crate in 1-hour shifts on and off all day long. It just does not seem fair to have to do that to either dog.

Now, recently we boarded the two other dogs and had Petie home alone before we left for a short vacation. While she was the only dog in the home, she was back to the sweet, playful, loving, follow-us-around, "Sweetie Petie" she had been before. Plus, our neighbor came in to care for Petie while we were gone and she was friendly, playful, and obedient for her as well. Our neighbor called her "a perfect dog."

We feel as if the dynamic of the dogs we have is not good for Petie and that she would be happier in another home (although we love her and don't want her to go, I do not know of another way to help her be the happy furry friend she once was). We feel Petie needs a home without any other dogs or cats (being a hunting breed, she does not like cats). She is good with children, but she gets very excited around kids because she wants to play with them and sometimes this is scary for very little kids or kids that are nervous around dogs, so I would say she would do best in a home with "older children". She is spayed, house-broken (but gets nervous during thunderstorms and may have an accident once in a while), up on all of her shots, and crate-trained.

We are located in SC but are willing to travel some if needed to find Petie the home that is right for her. Please let me know if you can help or if you know anyone that can. (There is no way I am taking her to a shelter and dropping her off.)

Thank you,
Alicia Tucker

Coats, NC, Harnett county: Owner lost home, 9 Cats left outside to survive in crates!

This photo says it all - 9 cats left outside in crates. They can't survive in these conditions. Please help in whatever way you can.... crosspost, share, foster, adopt...
*From Joan: I was contacted on FB about these cats in Coats, NC which is in Harnett county. A lady stumbled upon them and found out  that the person that owns them recently lost her home. The cats have been put outside in crates and as you can see the conditions are terrible.  With all this rain, I have no idea how they are doing now. The contact person that found them is Mindy listed in the post. There is no more information than what you see.  Does anyone have a contact in Harnett county that can call her? These cats are doomed if they go to Harnett county shelter. I am at a loss on what to do since I don't have any contacts in Harnett county.

"My name is Pat and Asher is breaking my heart - I would like to sponsor him for full vetting with chipping to a reputable rescue. How do I do that? I have 7 or would take him...such a great face and expression and so adoptable. Please let me know - I can call in a CC. Looks like he has a flea problem? - would like to include a deflea as well. Thanks. Pat in VA"

This is a mom and daughter story. For 4 months now various people have tried to catch them, even shooting at them with rat shot and bb's. Her daughter Cherokee is on the right.

Thanks to a kind Animal Control Officer who used patience and many visits daily, mom and daughter came to him. AC exact words" they have been terrorized".

*Sparta, TN: Matti and Curly facing euthanization unless someone steps up

5-30-13:  Wonderful Update!!  "Just got off the phone with a lady that's covering the cost of vetting and transporting Matti and Curly both together to a rescue in CT! They are confirmed safe!!!! Thank you so much!"
Curly - just a puppy beagle
This is a final plea by a rescuer who has reached the end of her options due to major life changes.   Matti and Curly need a rescue, foster or adopter immediately.  Read their story in their rescuer's own words.  Please crosspost far and wide or contact her if you can help.
I'm begging for help one last time for Matti and Curly.  Matti jumped the wall again this morning and we spent an hour looking for her, praying she didn't get shot by a farmer here.  In the meantime Curly was doing all he could to get in the chicken coop after more chickens.

Matti - 2 year old English Coonhound
I can't keep risking the chickens lives.  I've already lost two and that's not fair to them.  I can't keep risking Matti will be shot by a farmer for going in his pastures.  I've done all I can for these two for the last six months, but when their rescue wouldn't take them and others haven't had room, it's just become too much.  Other

*Ft. Worth, TX Owner died/nurse and rescues trying to honor her last request to save her dogs HELP needed NOW!

Pepper is still waiting for her forever home but she's in a fabulous foster home and her foster mom says she's the best dog she's had in a long time.  I had her for the first few months and I agree with her completely.  She's very shy around strangers but once she decides you're okay, she's the most loyal and loving dog anyone could want.  And she's absolutely gorgeous with her long black hair and those beautiful golden highlights. Elderly woman dies leaving one request for her nurse: to find homes for her 3 dogs. Two were adopted, but Pepper is still waiting.
YouTube video of Pepper and her puppies:

The Whole Story
*From KL: All three lived their entire lives in the same backyard with a very elderly owner (the woman was in her eighties when she died). They all appear to be in good health although they're not spayed (I assume) and probably not current on vaccinations. Their rescuer is doing the very best she can to help them find new homes but her funds are very limited so a week in boarding is pushing the limits for her. If she doesn't find a foster to take one or all of them quickly, she'll have no choice but to take them to a shelter.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL: STILL NO HOME: Owner died, 2 bonded Seniors HOME ALONE - need foster or permanent home NOW!

2 SENIOR DOGS, JANE & FRANK, LIVING IN AN EMPTY HOUSE AFTER OWNER PASSED AWAY, PLEASE HELP FIND THEM A GOOD HOME.
The Jack Russel female is Jane and she is about 12 years old, the male Yorkie is Frank and he is between 11-12 years. They have been raised together and we would like to keep them together. Their owner just passed away from cancer and they are living in an empty home with someone coming in to feed and walk them daily, which is not an ideal situation. They are house trained and spayed/neutered, and up to date on shots. They are so cute and well behaved.  We would like to find a foster home or permanent home for these two together so they can live out their last years in peace. Would not want them in a shelter environment at their age.

CONTACT: If anyone can help, the contact person is DALE - Who can be reached via e-mail at drswyo@aol.com.

Lincoln County, NC: No Rescue Offer Yet! Blind 5 yr old Carolina dog dumped at Lincoln County shelter NC

5-29-13 UPDATE AND NEW CONTACT INFORMATION

I smell fresh green grass!!

                                             Contact Sylva Southwell at 540-907-8890

Tiger is a 5 yr old male blind Carolina dog that was an owner surrender at Lincoln Co Animal Control in NC. Before being surrendered, Tiger lived on a chain for 5 years. 1-2 years ago, he was attacked while on that chain by something and he became blind as a result. The owner did nothing. The owner just left him on that chain. Skip a few years ahead and the owner dumped him at a kill shelter. Sylva Southwell with Believe in Buster Animal Rescue offered to help him. She transported him ON 5/26/13 from NC to VA and he's currently with her now.  Following is her update on this precious boy.
We have renamed him Tyler. We're now looking for Tyler's forever home or a Special Needs rescue group for help.  Tyler is a friendly and gentle little guy. Sylva reports that he loves human attention and loves belly rubs. He seems to do well with his blindness and is not timid at all. He is very, very friendly! He has a scar on one of his front paws which probably was quite deep at some point but this does not impede his walking. He has a half tail that never stops wagging. She reports that he is excellent with people and is quite remarkable. He’s adjusting quite well after being out of the shelter for just one day.
Now we have NO offers for poor Tiger. Please continue to network him with proper criteria in place if he is to leave here.  Since he is now not leaving. I will schedule a vet visit for him in 10 days. I have to wait until his quarantine time is up. My vet prefers it and I do not blame him. Unless it is a medical emergency I always quarantine dogs before wellness exam, blood work, hw test and sterilization.

With that said is there anyone willing to assist with his medical? Since I now have a dog here that I will be vetting. He also has taken a kennel which I use as a holding area while I am walking dogs during the day. So now I am down one kennel. :(

My vet charges app. $75.00 for a neuter
HW test is $25.00 - $30.00
Blood work is app. $50.00 or so
Initial exam $45.00
If he is HW positive my vet charges $300 - $350.00 for treatment and kennels are $229.00 10x10.

I thought I would just get it out of the way as to what approximate
expense is.

This evening I spent approximately 45 minutes with Tyler.  He LOVES attention :) I brushed him for a bit which he really enjoyed, probably the first time he has ever been brushed by his initial reaction after I let him sniff the brush.  He enjoyed his brushing session so much that he closed his eyes. And it was nice to get that excess loose fur off of him.

He has a very cute and animated nature about him. He is not timid, actually a very friendly boy.  He has a scar on one of his front paws which probably was quite deep at some point. It does not impede his walking.  That half tail of his never stops wagging. He is excellent with people. Being blind and in a new place it is a pleasant surprise how sweet and friendly Tyler is. Someone is hopefully going to end up with a remarkable little boy.

Donations can be made to Believe in Buster Animal Rescue, a 501c3 group by visiting their website, or via Pay Pal (Their paypal address is st2005@embarqmail.com), or you can visit their Facebook page  to access their donation section. Your donation is tax deductible.

We're asking the community to spread the word about him in hopes that we can find the perfect family for him, or a Special Needs Rescue group that can help us find his family. Tyler has been on a chain for all of his life, yet he loves people and is very trusting. His whole story is just heartbreaking to me. I want to help him find a wonderful family! Please share his story!!!!
