Canada: Now Cane Corso Gina has Cancer - Family Still paying for Tiny Olive's surgery

THIS FAMILY REALLY NEEDS YOUR HELP.
8-4-12 Update:  We have good news and sad news.  Olive is spinal walking and no longer in pain!  Lisa's wedding at her farm is today.

The sad news is that, this week, Lisa has been told that her beloved Cane Corso, Gina has cancer. It is operable and the fee will be almost the same as Olive's. Lisa and her family are struggling to pay for Olive's surgery and now this. There is nothing more heartbreaking that not being able to help your pets because of money and who has that kind of money lying around.

The best and only wedding present Lisa would ever want is for her animals to be safe and healthy so if you could please crosspost her Chip In, I know she would be grateful.

This is Olive, a tiny titan who has experienced more  physical and emotional pain than any full-sized animal should ever have to endure.  Fortunately, she is now in her forever home with a family who loves her enough to make up for all the others who have forsaken her, but they need help to pay for the surgery she so desperately needs.  Please read her story directly from the loving heart and soul of her new mom, Lisa, who has selflessly and tirelessly rescued and rehabilitated animals in need from tiny hedgehogs to mack- sized cows, donkeys, goats, rabbits, senior dogs, puppies and kittens from all parts of the world.

If  Olive touches you at all, we ask that you donate as little as a dollar - everything adds up and the positive intention behind that small deed accumulates as well. Please CLICK HERE to contribute to Olive's surgery

"Olive is a 7 yr. old Shih Tzu who was thrown away, not once, but many times. After all the senseless animal killings in the news lately, we could not allow this little dog, who had been so callously treated by people, to become yet another casualty of indifference.

We adopted Olive a month ago from a wonderful dog rescue based in Ontario, Canada. The woman

Ruby Needs and Deserves a Special Home

RUBY'S STORY
http://aflar.chipin.com/ruby

*From AllForLoveAnimalRescue.org:  Ruby is an adorable, young, sweet girl, who was on death row at the Camarillo Animal Shelter. Small in size, she is a pocket pit who is playful, energetic, and very friendly. All For Love Animal Rescue (AFLAR) helped a private party in getting her out of the shelter. They had committed to finding her a home, but were unable to do so. Now, in order to keep her from being returned to the shelter, AFLAR stepped in to help. Since she is young, Ruby will need some basic training, but our trainer has given her a good assessment.

Unfortunately, she has just been diagnosed with epilepsy. We took her to the vet for tests, and she is now on meds, and we are watching her carefully.
So, AFLAR is committed to helping Ruby, and therefore we are faced with boarding, training, and medical costs, in addition to eventually finding hera foster or forever home. And since she was pulled for a private party, we don't have any donations for Ruby, and so we are reaching out for help in caring for her.

AFLAR pulls many death row dogs and "medical" dogs from the Camarillo shelter (primarily Pit Bulls & Chihuahuas, who are most in danger). We operate solely on charitable donations to enable us to continue our work for these animals.

Please help us with Ruby by donating for her care, and also spreading theword about this great little girl? She is depending on us, and we won't let her down.
Please check us out on FACEBOOK (for photos & video) and at AllForLoveAnimalRescue.org, or call (805) 445-3535.

Sweet Sarah Kate..Tossed Out Like Trash is a True Treasure

Please take the time to hear the story of this precious little dog, help if you can... network like crazy.

ONE WOMAN'S TRASH IS ANOTHER WOMAN'S TREASURE
BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE OF ALABAMA NEEDS FINANCIAL HELP
FOR SARAH KATE

Dear Friends and Benefactors -

On July 11, 2012, a very kind and caring rescuer/transporter in south Florida emailed BTRA and twenty (20) others asking for help for a senior Boston terrier in her area. At first, I thought this senior girl was just too far away from BTRA for us to be able to help her. I figured that a rescue closer to the area would come to her aide. As much as I love Florida, I did not think that I was up to a twelve-hour, one-way trip to the southern portion of the state. I desperately tried not to think about this sweet senior Boston. My effort in ignoring this email did not work.

I waited for about two (2) hours to respond to see if someone closer to the area was going to offer to take her; and when this did not happen, I placed a call to animal control to see if she was still there and still safe. It was a miracle that I was able to talk to the animal control person in charge. She told me that she was still there and unclaimed. She also told me that animal control would not keep her long as they were overcrowded and she HAD to leave within a day. She also told me this senior girl’s “story” and how she ended up at animal control.

Her name was Etta. She has been a breeding stock dog her entire life of nine years--forced to have one
litter of puppies after another. She has lived her life in a cardboard box outside surviving the elements of southern Florida. When her last three litters were stillborn, her owner (a breeder) took her to animal

*Charlotte, NC: Mia, Blind Sweet Schnauzer Mix Left Outside for Months

10-13-12:  A fairytale ending for our little princess!
Hi Team Mia,
I am honored to be sharing the finale of a remarkable rescue effort for beautiful Mia, who is no longer the 'little blind schnauzer'.

Look at her smile!  She's come such a long way, and has been an exceptionally brave, loving and resilient girl to all she has met along the way.  This email is photo and news-filled so be sure to read it to the very end please.

Hearts are soaring ----and you will see the picture-perfect ending as you read on... (and lots more pix at the very bottom)

As you know, Mia's story started in July when she was found wandering in South Carolina, flea-bitten and blind.  Thanks to a long list of donors and dear friends, Mia had successful surgery September 19th and now she can see all the great things in her life--including her new forever family.

Here's Mia relaxing with her two new Bouvier 'siblings' and friends, Hagrid and Georgia  with 3 beautiful fenced acres to roam and play.

*Reston, VA: Coco urgently needs a new foster or home

9-10-12:  Happy Update for Sweet Coco.  A foster stepped up for her, fell in love and will be adopting her!

COCO needs a foster or adoptive home URGENTLY!!! Coco was rescued at the last minute from the shelter and euthanization.  The lady  who saved her life at the eleventh hour can no longer keep her. A difficult and harrassing neighbor has called animal control so Coco now sits in boarding. Funds and time are running out for this precious girl who has lost her puppies and now her foster mom and guardian angel.
Read about Coco from someone who knows her:

"I'm a volunteer, I'm usually at the shelter 3-4 days a week getting the dogs out for a walk, socializing, playing with them, so I got to know Coco. When Doc did Coco's spay, she was discovered to be pregnant, so the spay turned into a big abortion...12 little pups, who of course were too premature to make it. It was a big surgery and Coco had a difficult recovery. During her recovery I would take her out to get some fresh air, we would set in the grass, she would lay her head in my lap. She seemed very sad and I think she had post-partum blues and grieved for her lost puppies., but she gradually came around and became a happy doggie again.

She seemed to look forward to going to the play yard. She was very strong on the leash and pulled until she calmed down. I found her to always be affectionate and I never saw aggression toward other dogs. She likes to be touched - likes hugs. Please give her the loving home she so deserves!! She gets along well with other dogs and cats, too. Coco is spayed, dewormed, UTD on vaccines and HW negative. She is a real sweet girl. "

If you can help Coco please email

*A Hardworking Devoted Animal Rescuer Needs Our Help

Sasha Furr (yep…she has the purrfect name, for real!) is one of the hardest working individuals I know, not only in her everyday work-a-day life, but as an animal rescuer, foster/caretaker/healer/miracle worker for the cats she has saved and cared for.
Bendy’s Home fosters cats for Calvin’s Paws (formerly Marley’s Cat Tails), a local rescue with a focus on special needs cats, including FIV and FeLv positive ones.  You can read their wonderful stories here.

The most famous and the inspiration for the work she does is Bendy Kitty .  Bendy crossed the Rainbow Bridge last month at the age of 11. Read their story of how he came into her life at the tender age of 3 weeks.  Bendy and Sasha  shared their knowledge and support as a moderator on Handicapped Pets since 2001 and Sasha continues as BendyMom to this day.

The help Sasha is seeking is simple and do-able:

I'm being considered for a job posting online listings for a local furniture company.  They requested that I put up about 10 auctions on ebay so they can see what kind of ratings I get.  I have auctions for hermit crab shells, dog treats, cat treats, and coffee.

Please take a look and consider purchasing something and leave me nice feedback as it will help me get this job, that I do really want.  It would be another telecommuting job, keep me home with my cats, starting at about 20 hrs/wk with the potential to go full time. Please also share it with anyone you think might even be vaguely interested.”

I’ve tried to keep this short, but I’ve not even scratched the surface.  Let’s help a sister out…buy some cat or dog treats, hermit crab shells or some great coffee for yourself and/or pass this on. .

(I’ve bought the coffee and it is better than Starbucks!  Bendy's sweet face on the front of the bag is the secret ingredient, I'm sure)

*Marietta, GA: Sweetest 7 y/o black lab, Jennie, in danger

7-12-12:  Jennie is safe in a foster home!!!
All Jennie needs is a good diet, some exercise and a whole lot of TLC.  Jennie is spayed, HW tested negative, vaccinated and even microchipped.  Please consider giving this darling dog a chance.

She came into the shelter over a month ago as a stray and no one ever came looking for her.   I don't think she stands a chance getting adopted from the shelter which is so sad b/c she is such a wonderful dog.  Jennie is a 7 yr old, extremely obese (she weighs an amazing 93 lbs) black lab. She obviously has not been well cared for. Add the stress of the kennel and the warn weather to the poor diet and Jennie's coat isn't too pretty either. We had her at adoptions yesterday and more than one small child remarked "look at that big fat dog" as if she were a joke. The thing is, this is THE sweetest dog.  She wags her tail happily at every new dog (large or small) or person she meets. She gets so excited to see the leash and wants so much to go for walks. Its a bit slow going right now because of the extra weight and the pressure its probably

*From Trudy: “Carter” 3 Years Young, UTD on Shots and Neutered *He’s a Perfect Gentleman*
Here is the latest CARTER NEWS…The owner WILL SURRENDER him…he has been seen by two surgeons to assess his old (car accident) leg injury.  Although we would have loved to SAVE his leg, it is NOT practical NOR feasible!!! So TRUSTING Carter is about to lose his home AND his leg. We can’t let him down now and we won’t! We know the right home is out there!

7/5//12:  All have been rescued!!!
All 4 managed to stay together. Please help them find good homes after all they have been through.
*From Shelley: These sweet little girls are still there. They have had NO prospects. The shelter is full.
Ember
This group of four young female dogs were picked up together. There were 6 total, but two had been hit by cars. These pups appear to be related, but vary in age. Some are a little older than the others. They seemed exhausted when they were put in their kennel, like they have been on the run along time. Their names are Emmie, Ember, Emily, and Emma. Emmie is so tiny! You can see from the group photo that these girls are very bonded. Their stray hold is up, they are listed as CRITICAL. The shelter euthanizes by gas chamber.
Emily
If you can help, please contact Shelley Milburn at shelleymilburn1@gmail.com. We do work with out of state rescues as long as you can cover vetting costs and arrange transport.
Please share! Thank you!

7/5/12 UPDATE:  Purdy and Moo are staying with a family member temporarily, but they still need a permanent place and a new family, so please continue to share their story for them and their owner.
This is URGENT! This family must find a home or rescue to take their precious dogs Purdy and Moo.

*From Peggy: I got this message below about a family who has to move right now and these dogs need somewhere to go. Please contact Sarah Godwin with questions or for more information. sarah@sunshinewireless.net
*From Sarah: This first pic is of Purdy.  She is a jack Russell chihuhua mix about 7 years old.  She is extremely friends with everyone and loves to snuggle and sleep under the blanket with you. … Moo is Purdy’s son.  He is 2 years old.  He is very loving, but takes a little more time to warm up to you.  He takes a bit longer with children than adults though.  Purdy and Moo have never been away from each other.  But of course, beggars can’t be chooser and any home is better than no home!

*Rome GA - He looked up at me & cried

8-9-12:  ADOPTED!!!!
"... when we headed back towards the building, he slowed down, he stopped, he laid down, and then he looked up at me with the most soulful, begging eyes, he cried softly"
*From R: Here is the story that was told to me about a Very special boy that we've all come to know as "Elvis".
A volunteer's story: "I had some free time and had to spend it with Him.  He's quiet and doesn't "jump out" at you like some others, but I was drawn to use what little time I had to spend it with him.  And now, I cannot stop crying for his life.  I approached his cage and he looked at me like, "Really? Me?!!   You're going to pay attention to ME??"

We went outside for a wonderful walk, and he was so good on the leash.  I swear he was smiling as he felt the sunshine, and looked up at me!!   But then, when we headed back towards the building, he slowed down, he stopped, he laid down, and then he looked up at me with the most soulful, begging eyes, he cried softly.  I sat down too, he put his head in my lap, and I felt the warmth from his body, and I just burst out crying.  I couldn't stop, this loving warm dog was going to be killed and thrown into a trash bag.   It is too much to bear the thought of it.

When we did get back inside closing the door on him was the hardest thing I’ve ever done this boy is SPECIAL. I can't explain it, because it's something you have to experience for yourself. PLEASE save him!!  Make a special post!!  He will Give you his Heart, and Never Leave your side!!"

*PILOT POINT, TX: Bonded Cocker and Retriever need your help!!! Delilo found his way to Sampson in the shelter.

GREAT NEWS! They have been adopted together!!
This is heartbreaking!! Delilo found his way through gates and buildings to be with his best friend Sampson - please help keep them together.
*From Plyler:  Here [are] the pictures of the two bonded males at the Pilot Point Animal Control... Earlier, Sampson had been moved to a different kennel in different part of the shelter... But, Delilo's kennel must have been just closed but not latched...because when I walked into Animal Control, Delilo was sitting in front of Sampson's kennel giving him kisses... This baby [didn't] only push open the heavy kennel door but made his way... two connected buildings over to find his mate.
It was so sweet but heartbreaking. Please help keep them together. Sampson will likely be put in our adoption program [soon] but Delilo will not because of his age & hair loss (from fleas). This means these two will likely never see each other again. It just breaks my heart. ... Can any one give [these] two a place together?

Simsbury,CT - Two senior sweet dogs need new home asap!

Lizzie and Boomer, 2 bonded dogs temporarily in a boarding facility and their owner is running out of money and time. Please help them find a new home.
*From E: Please crosspost to find these two gorgeous dogs a new home (preferably together)... owner is distraught about having to rehome them and has not been able to place them on her own... please keep any nasty comments to yourself... this is about helping animals and not about putting people down...  HOW CAN YOU HELP? Contact is KAREN.COLLIER@hcbe.net

*From Karen: Hi.  My name is Lizzie.  I am a 9 year old German Shepherd mix. I am spayed and up-to-date on my shots.  I’m active and in really good health. My mom rescued me from the pound when I was only a year old.  I was very skinny and quite shy. My mom fed me and loved me, and I have become a very sweet girl.  I get along well with people, and  I am good with other dogs as long as we are properly introduced.  Unfortunately, my mom is moving to a place where she cannot have a fence for me and where I do not have room to run.  Rescue and re-homing organizations are not interested in me because I am a “senior.”  My dream is to find a home where I can run and play and be loved, ideally with my brother Boomer (see below), as we have been together for 8 years and are best friends.
Hello.  I’m Boomer, a 9-year old Chow/Spitz mix. People tell me all the time that I am a VERY handsome guy. I am neutered and up-to-date on all my shots.  I am friendly and active. I like to meet new people, and I get along well with other dogs, especially my sister Lizzie (we even prefer to snuggle in a single dog house together).  My mom rescued me from the pound when I was only a puppy. Unfortunately, my mom is moving to a place where she cannot have a fence for me and where I do not have room to run.  Like Lizzie, re-homing organizations are not interested in me because I am a “senior.”  My dream is to find a home where I can run and play and be loved, ideally with my sister Lizzie (see above), as we have been together for 8 years and are best friends.  She is “my girl,” and I take great pride in protecting her.  One time, we took an adventure trip from home and Lizzie hurt her leg.  I protected her from strangers until our mom came for us.  I am loyal to her and to my mom.

*From COLLIER, KAREN: Good morning.  I am supremely frustrated, broken hearted, and desperate.  Due to a recent change in my living situation, I can no longer keep my two beloved dogs that I’ve had for eight years. They are wonderful companions, and I only want for them to find a good home.  I am trying so hard to be a responsible pet owner and find them a good place to go.  I have contacted friends and family, as well as work acquaintances.  Nobody knows of anyone who can help, nor can they help themselves.  I have contacted rescue and rehoming organizations, only to be turned down by all of them, citing that the reason is that my dogs are “seniors.”  Some have graciously offered to cross-post them, which I welcomed at first.  Then, I realized that this led to a number of people emailing me to condemn me for being a bad pet owner, rubbing salt into an already-festering wound.  I am trying SO hard to do the right thing. I am currently paying to have the dogs boarded, and I am driving 60 miles round trip after work each day to spend time with them.  Simply, I cannot keep this up.  It is taking a toll on me, financially and emotionally.  Moreover, I know that it is not healthy for the dogs.  I have started looking for anyone in the region who may be able to help me.  Honestly, I teared up when I found your web site.  I hope and pray that everything I read is true and that you can help my babies and me.  I just need to find them a place and know that they’re okay.

Please, please say that you can help us.
