Urgent request:  Sandy was saved at the last minute by this wonderful family, but now their own cat is ill and Sandy does not get along with other cats.  Please help them find the perfect home for Sandy, where she will be the only cat.


WHO AM I?   My name is Sandy and I am 19 years old!  I am deaf, but that does not stop me from enjoying my family and cuddles, even though I really don't care for other cats. I would love a dog friend, though.  Another cat who lives here is sick so my rescuer said I need to go to another home or they might have to send me to a shelter.  Darn...they just saved me from my original owner who wanted to have me PTS (whatever that means) and I was just getting used to everyone. They don't want to send me back there or to a shelter where I could be PTS (??), but they might have to make that decision.

I have been declawed on my front paws so I make very sweet and soft biscuits!  I have been combo tested negative.  All I need is a soft bed, a window sill or a little corner to nap in.  I promise I won't be any trouble .... I am a little grandma cat, you know!

Tara and Oliver"My name is Oliver, For five years, I was my owner's best friend.  We went everywhere together. I took care of him and he took care of me.  My owner passed away and so I had to move, but they just threw me in a dark cellar by myself with noone to play with or take care of. I am blind in one eye, but I can see just fine with my good eye.  After several months of living like this, a nice lady climbed down the ladder and took me out of there...well, I'll let her explain:

  

Three days ago I helped rescue an older Cocker out of a basement cellar. It was not a finished basement and to call it a basement at all is wrong. it was more like a cellar with dirt floor, dark and damp.

This older dog was forced to live down there all day and all night. Never to be let out to use the bathroom, his sat in his own filth. He lived to eat and was only given the bare minimum to keep him alive. He was overfed and given water. No daylight or light at all. To get to the cellar there was a ladder, no stairs, so only with assistance could this dog  leave his hell hole.

    Yet, it was not always like this. For five glorious years, this dog was life and heart of an elderly autistic man. He went everywhere with this man. He was even a service dog for emotional support. Anywhere this man when the dog wasn't too far behind. He was groomed regularly, fed a normal diet and just plain good old fashioned loved. The man grew ill and sadly passed away. This is when this Cockers life took a turn for the worst....

    He was to be sent to live with the old man's wicked daughter. She, for whatever reasons, did not really want the dog and put the dog in her cellar. There, he languished for 6 solid lonely months. It was not until the smell of the dog reached the main floor of the home and in-laws noticed. One such family member who reached out to me as I groomed her cavalier regularly.

Athens, AL: Sad Update: 2 Dogs Living in House Alone. People breaking in and poisoning

Sad Update:  Pam made an arrangment with her landlord that she could bring Hunter and Blue to live with her if she found homes for some of her cats.  When she went to get Blue, she was very, very ill and had to be put to sleep.  Hunter is lost without her best friend and Pam is devastated.  In order to keep Hunter with her, she must find homes for two cats.  We will post them soon.

This is urgent...two innocent animals made the victims of not only the economy, but also of criminals taking advantage of someone's misfortune.  Please help their owner help them.

From Pam, their owner:  "I just lost my home of 13 years. Several years ago, I rescued two dogs that I intended to keep for life until I ended up getting a divorce and now losing my home. The bank is coming in any day to take my house.. and I am needing to find my dogs a home so they won't be killed. I have searched desperately for homes for
my girls, but no one wants a full grown dog or a mutt... I don't know what to do... I am desperate for any help or advice that you could give.

Both dogs are  females. One is named Hunter and she is a solid black lab/chow mix. When I first rescued her, she didn't trust anyone. I took her away from an abusive owner. She was being hit and not fed... She is extremely smart and knows simple commands but she doesn't like any other dogs or cats etc... I am assuming this is because she was made to hunt for her food... She is best friends with the other dog that I rescued.

The other dog that I have is a Blue Heeler and her name is Blue She knows a  few simple commands and she craves attention to where she will follow you around then when you stop and sit down then she will come over to you and lean up against you to be petted. She has just started riding in my car with me... I had to leave them both at the house I no longer live in because I am not allowed to have them where I moved. I have friends that go by and check on and feed them. The only free time I get is on the weekends and then I go and spend time with them.  Since this has happened, Hunter has developed trust issues again, and she hasn't had them in years.  What I mean by that is when I am not there, she will lay on the porch and act depressed, then when I get there she will come up and be petted and get her treat, then she runs away to the edge of my property and just lays down away from me... and she never used to act like that.... Then Blue, well, she acts just the opposite... when I show up, she is glued to my side... and when I get in my truck, well that is how she started  taking rides with me... she wouldn' get out of my truck.

N. Central Shelter LA CA - Snoopy only has a few days left to live.

Good news!!!  Snoopy's owners could not leave him in the shelter.  They came back and took him home!

THEIR SAD STORY: *From Susan: I'm asking for help for two senior dogs whose owner has died. Trixie and PoohBear had been with this couple, Dan and his wife, since they were pups, seven years ago. Last year the wife died. In the summer Dan learned he was dying, and asked for help with the dogs. Two weeks ago Dan died. Each dog has been placed in a home, but with no success. Trixie absolutely ran away from everyone, and is a very fearful girl. PoohBear was with a couple for a week, and they said she was 95% perfect, but her seperation anxiety made it impossible for them to keep her. She cut herself badly pulling down blinds after losing three teeth in a crate trying to get out. Now, they are both in Animal Control, perfectly content as long as they are together. Would you have any room for them in your rescue? They need to stay together. Both are healthy and spayed. PoohBear has been fully vetted. Trixie would need to be vet checked. We would be able to make a donation to help with that.

We were all set to build a doggie ramp but then the owner decided that Savannah, a 6 yr. old deaf dog who has only gone blind in the last 4 months, needs to go to a new home because they really cannot afford to keep her. What made them realize this was that she started itching a lot in her rump area and is biting the hair off. I told them to put her on that grain free dog food they have at Costco that is 35 lbs. for $35. It sounds like a grain allergy. She is only about 15 pounds and is friendly, housebroken, and gets along with other dogs. She lives with another small dog, Peyton. Savannah lives in Richmond, Va."

Kakoka MO - 3 BEAUTIFUL BLACK LABS - left homeless, owner went to nursing home...

THESE BEAUTIFUL LABS WERE ALL THE FAMILY THAT AN ELDERLY WOMAN HAD LEFT IN THIS WORLD - NOW SHE IS IN A NURSING HOME AND HER HOUSE WILL BE AUCTIONED NEXT WEEK TO PAY HER EXPENSES.  WITHOUT RESCUE HER FAMILY WILL BE PUT DOWN.  PLEASE POST TO ALL YOU MIGHT KNOW SO THAT THIS WOMAN CAN HAVE THE PEACE OF MIND KNOWING THAT HER BABIES ARE SAFE!

These dogs are all in boarding now.  We pleaded with them to give us more time to find placement for them and instead of putting them down, we put them in boarding.  Please help if you can!

Three GREAT – loving, affectionate, housebroken, spayed/neutered - dogs are in DESPERATE NEED of a new loving-home.  Their 88-year-old, adoring human-Mom requires 24-hour care.  After years of trying to keep her in her own home, with her beloved 4-legged-family-members, she must now remain in a nursing home, to be safe and receive her needed care.   Read her story below...

A heartbreaking and all too common tale of the elderly -- humans and animals. Please help these 2 in any way you can.
*From Anita: These two dogs (out of 3) were left at the Franklin County Pound Tuesday after their owner entered a nursing home.  One dog has been killed.  They are scared and nervous and need help fast.  We have met them and they have nice personalities.  Please share their story and their pictures.  We are in a race for time because theirs is up.  They can be killed at any time. The information that we have on them is limited.  We have been told they are about 10 years old.  Please help us help them live out the rest of their lives somewhere safe.

    Imagine that you wake up one morning, and the person you love most in the world hugs your neck, waves a tearful good-bye, gets into a car and disappears down the road.  You worry because something in her voice was different this time, not like when she would drive to the grocery store only to return a couple of hours later with a bag of food for you. 
    This time, a lot of hours pass, and she doesn’t come back.  Someone you don’t know very well comes to the house to feed you dinner.  They say words you don’t understand the meaning of – nursing home, no other choice. 
    A day passes, and that same person comes back.  Only this time, he puts you in the back of his car and drives you to a place you’ve never been to before. 
    He gets you out of the car.  A nice lady walks up and tells him that older dogs don’t have a very good chance of getting adopted here.  You wonder what adopted is.  You hear the man tell the nice lady that his sister went to a nursing home and you belonged to her.  He can’t take care of you.  The nice lady looks sad. 
     The man gets in the car without you and drives off. Another person you don’t know comes out and leads you to what looks like a cage with a concrete floor.  She puts you inside and closes the door. 
There are a lot of dogs here, most of them younger than you.  You’re 10 – 70 in people years.  Some of the dogs are barking.  You hear the anxiousness in their barks, and you start to shake.  You wonder why the person you love went away, and what you did wrong to be left here.

On Nov. 1st, while taking off some tree limbs we saw this pitiful little boy standing in the middle of a busy Rd.  We stopped the truck and followed him to another cross road and saw him dragging a dead deer killed by hunters and thrown on the side of the rd.

This poor little fellow was dragging a deer over twice his size into the ditch on the side of the rd. and started eating.  I coaxed him to me with a can of little Cesar fillet mignon dog food.  He was terribly emaciated; tick and flea infested and has many scars on his face and body.  

I had Sheila, my own dog in the truck with me and he made no attempt to bite her, rather wagged his skinny little tail non stop.  I am presently trying to find homes for some of my rescue dogs because I have had to take my Mother in who is in stage three Alzheimer’s to keep her from going into a nursing home where I know she would not last two weeks.

WHO ARE THEY? *From Isle: Tom &  Jerry are losing their home this weekend and will be taken to a kill shelter. These sweet brothers are so bonded they cry for each other when separated. They MUST go together. At 4 years old, these beautiful orange tabbies are the perfect age; still playful and funny, but also mellow and incredibly loving. Both are declawed, neutered, UTD on shots, have impeccable litter box manners, ..they are perfect cats! These photos dont do them justice ...they are stunning!

Another heartbreaking case caused by the economy. Two precious dogs, brother and sister, sadly losing their home and their family. Please help them find a new home where they can stay together or at least keep them from going to the shelter.

Florida - Charlie was found in a park waiting for his owners to come back for him.

*From Carolyn: WHO AM I? My name is Charlie and I was found in a park, very malnourished and scared. I waited and waited for my family to come  for me, but sadly they didn’t.  I am being cared for at the Ponte Vedra Animal Hospital – they say I have a very bad case of Heartworms.  I have started my treatment, but PVAH feels like I would recover better and be happier in a foster home, where I will be loved and taught some doggy manners.  You see, I am very playful and I haven’t been taught how to walk on a leash.  I am anxious to learn though, if you will be patient and teach me.  My heartworms are very bad, so I will need to be kept quiet except for leash walks to potty.  I can’t play much or get overheated – that would be very dangerous for me.  Since I haven’t been neutered yet, it might be best for me to be in a home with no other dogs.  I will be neutered when my HW treatment is complete.  I still have two months to go on the treatment.  I like other...
